Solar used to be a good investment, it's now a great one. The price of solar hardware has come down significantly and the cost of electricity has gone up equally significantly.
Solar panels are generally considered a long term investment as the lifespan of modern panels is expected to be at least 30 years.
How much
A recent UK study (not Isle of Man but closest comparison, published by Admiral, the insurance people, stated that going solar could increase the price of your home by up to 25%.
You will have seen a growing number of Solar panel installs across the Island of late. It's time to jump on the bandwagon.
The Isle of Man sits at 54 degrees northern latitude. Whilst we don't get the same intensity of sunlight as they do at the equator we still receive over 50% of the solar energy. With modern hardware that will make a serious dent in your electicity bils.
We have partnered with Conister Finance to provide their Green Finance funding solutions. With loans available up to 120 months from competitive rates.
We work with local suppliers in order to keep as much of the cost on Island as we can. As a backup we can source all solar hardware from one of the UK's largest wholesalers. They have a constant stock and can ship to Heysham within 24 hours. Our team is dedicated to having your solar system installed within a couple of weeks of ordering.
There are only a couple of things that could slow us down.
You will only need planning permission to install solar panels if you are in a conservation area. If you are, we will happily manage this for you. Please give us a call if you need more information on this.
If you have a roof that spans over 9 meters then you may need a structural engineering design and building control approval. Again if you're unsure give us a call.

Our recommended JA Solar panels are guaranteed to work for 30 years up to 80% of their initial output. They will be long paid for by that time.
Manx Utilities are committed to supporting the Island's goals of becoming carbon neutral in terms of generation by 2030. That will be achieved through a mix projects including onshore wind and domestic solar generation. Manx Utilities currently offer the following:
Manx Utilities will buy back unused energy generated at a price of 9 pence per kWh up to a maximum of £900. We'll get this set up for you.
There is currently an EV tariff which provides electricity over night at a reduced rate of 20 pence per kWh. If you have one or more EVs we will make sure to optimise this for you.
This is an additional tariff if you mainly use electricity to heat your home. Again...ask us for further information.
Please complete the form below to pass us your details. We will call you as soon as we can. We're a local Isle of Man business and will not use your information for marketing any thing else.
"KWh" stands for kilowatt-hour, which is a unit of energy commonly used to measure electricity consumption. One kilowatt-hour is equivalent to one kilowatt (1 kW) of power being used for one hour. In real life this equates to:
Electric Shower (10kW): Costs £3 per hour.
Conventional Oven (2kW-5kW): Costs 60 pence to £1.50 per hour.
Microwave Oven (1000W): Costs 30 pence per hour.
Electric Kettle (1500W): Costs 45 pence per hour.
Washing Machine (500W): Costs 15 pence per hour.
Not real people but illlustrations of how it works.
